1. Phase: German-Palestinian learning community 'Inclusive redesign, use and co-management of public spaces'
How can you actively promote social cohesion in your municipality? What role do public spaces play and how can they be made more inclusive and participatory? Through the learning community, we will support you not only in answering these questions, but also in further developing your concrete ideas together with international experts, and then implementing them.
Social cohesion has many facets. It thrives on the participation of the people in a community. As the administrative level closest to citizens, municipalities play an important role in this. With their activities and measures, they have the potential to systematically promote local interaction and strengthen social cohesion on the ground. This will help enable implementation of the 2030 Agenda. The design and use of public spaces, such as squares, libraries or green spaces are of particular importance for social interaction.
As part of the 12-month international learning community 'Strengthening Social Cohesion', the Service Agency Communities in One World is supporting and facilitating municipalities in further developing their project ideas for the inclusive redesign, use and co-management of public spaces. The learning community includes a particular focus on youth participation.
The Service Agency will facilitate the learning community through various platforms such as workshop moderation and online modules. We will also support municipalities through one-on-one consultations. Our aim is to build an atmosphere of trust and cooperation in which participants share their knowledge, experiences and challenges, and jointly develop their project ideas into concrete action plans for implementation.
