Darmstadt, 12 to 15 March 2018. The network meeting provided participants with a rare opportunity to enter into a creative and productive dialogue with the delegates and integrated experts from their own municipal partnership, and with actors from other partnerships. The dialogue covered lessons learned and challenges faced by the various projects, and gave participants fresh ideas for further developing their municipal partnerships.
The network meeting kicked off on the Monday by allowing participants to get to know each other. The participants broke the ice playfully by forming groups and producing creative and humorous presentations on their municipal partnerships, and the projects and expert assignments associated with them. The second day offered a chance to reflect on various aspects of the expert assignments – on their effects, the issue of sustainability, the challenges and the topic of communication work. Participants made intensive use of this special opportunity to inspire and learn from each other. In the afternoon Annette Turmann, Manager of the Service Agency's Project 'Municipalities for Global Sustainability', turned the focus of the meeting onto the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) contained in the 2030 Agenda. This was followed by a discussion of how and to what extent the partner municipalities help implement SDGs in their projects.
