Over the course of the two and a half day seminar, participants networked, exchanged ideas, found inspiration, worked on their projects and made many new contacts. The main focus was on the topic of “partnerships on an equal footing” between municipalities. On the one hand, this was about sharpening the focus of ASA participants on the challenges that municipalities in Germany and the Global South face, while also raising their awareness in the face of development policy projects. On the other hand, questions were raised as to how power structures and dependencies are reflected in municipal partnerships. One of the participants noted: “How can I combine what I’ve learned about power structures and dependencies with the objectives, actions and expectations of the municipal partner?”
