To prepare for work with the new system Jean Bosco Rushingabigwi, Raissa Munyana Mutabazi and Faustin Serubanza of the RALGA editorial team attended a training course in Rhineland-Palatinate. Stefan Heck of the GStB, who planned and organised the training week, also attended. Markus-Oliver Morgenstern of Chamaeleon AG, the company that designed the content management system for RALGA’s new website, led the course. The agenda for the first two days of the workshop focused on introducing participants to the basic functions of 'Rwanda direct', so that the RALGA team would be able to manage and work with the system in Rwanda self-reliantly. Among other things, the course covered the structure of the system and user administration. Participants tried out for themselves how to create and use the navigation tree, and worked on launching various page versions. Other topics included media management, including the management of images, graphics and PDF documents, and working on website content. In part two of the editorial training week participants were able to apply what they had learned right away, and began filling the new website with editorial content.
At the end of the successful training week, the participants were pleased that all the set objectives had been met. Stefan Heck underlined the superb cooperation with the RALGA team. Since everyone already knew each other, he said, the week-long workshop had been conducted in a spirit of mutual trust that had a positive effect on the work results.
