The three-day network meeting had been planned as an opportunity for African and Latin American climate partnership municipalities to network South-to-South. Around 30 delegates from five African and one Latin American country came to the Namibian capital, Windhoek, to attend the meeting from 21 to 23 November 2018.
Participants were quickly able to identify joint focal topics for climate change mitigation and adaptation, on which the municipalities will also be able to dialogue bilaterally in the further course of the project. Excursions to various locations in the Windhoek region provided technical input, with a focus on water. At the end of the meeting all participants were positive about the outcome: they had succeeded in making valuable new contacts, and defined further steps for working toward their respective programmes of action.
The network meeting was organised by the Service Agency Communities in One World/Engagement Global in cooperation with the North Rhine-Westphalian Working Party on Agenda 21 (LAG 21 NRW), with support from the City of Windhoek and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
