The Urban7 process (U7) has set itself the goal of integrating the perspective of cities more intensively in the G7 talks. With success: In addition to the recognition of the role and commitment of cities and municipalities, the announcement of the intention to involve all levels of government and the recommendation to strengthen an exchange between them, the Urban7 itself and its U7 Mayors Declaration were explicitly mentioned in the communiqué of the G7 meeting of ministers for urban development on 12 and 13 September 2022 in Potsdam.
The online event on 5 October 2022 "Cooperative Climate Action - Municipal Policies from G7 to COP27" with State Secretary Jochen Flasbarth (BMZ) - to which we would like to cordially invite you - follows on from this and focuses on the potential of cooperation and exchange between government levels and different groups of actors in the implementation of the Paris Climate Agreement. The aim of the event is to formulate a message for COP27 in November 2022.
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), in cooperation with the Service Agency Communities in One World (SKEW) of Engagement Global and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), invites municipal decision-makers, practitioners from local government, civil society and academia/think tanks and policy-makers to an exchange. The event is designed to be interactive and offers the opportunity for exchange afterwards.
