More than half the world’s population now live in cities, and the figure is continuing to rise. Many cities face acute challenges related to poverty, environmental pressures and congested transport systems. Yet they often develop particularly innovative solutions to these problems. The purpose of our international community of practice is to exchange and disseminate good municipal practices so that municipalities can profit from each other's solutions. Therefor Connective Cities brings together municipal experts, practitioners and project managers to enable mutual learning. Within this community, conferences and workshops, online events for the exchange of expertise, training measures and expert delegation visits create a wealth of opportunities for continued learning and networking.
The Connective Cities web portal provides access to municipal learning experiences and best practices. Core themes of the network are: Climate and Sustainability, Integrated Urban Development, Municipal Services, Local Economic Development and Good Urban Governance, - complemented by the cross-cutting issues of gender, climate change and digitalisation.
