Through our partnership conference formats, we promote dialogue and exchange of experience between municipalities and partnerships. The conferences encourage the discussion on topics related to the 2030 Agenda as well as the deepening of partnerships.
Who are they for?
Our partnership conferences are designed for actors from German municipalities and their partner municipalities from the Global South.
What do they aim to achieve?
The conferences provide a platform for international exchange on all topics of municipal development cooperation in the context of the 2030 Agenda. Together with you, we aim to promote networking and the sharing of lessons learned on the municipal and civil society levels, and further develop cooperation in the municipal partnerships. The conferences focus on mutual learning in the international context. They are always interactive, and aim to let you dialogue with colleagues. We cordially invite you to join us together with your partner from the Global South. Please get in touch with us.
For which regions do we offer partnership conferences?
We hold conferences for each of the following regions once every three years: Africa (2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 2022), Asia (2014, 2017, 2020, 2023), Latin America (2015, 2018, 2021, 2024) and Eastern Europe (2017). Within these regions of the world, we address only those countries that are official recipients of ODA. DAC-List
For which topics do we offer partnership conferences?
The implementation of the 2030 Agenda with its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is a global task in which cities and municipalities worldwide have a central role to play. Municipal partnerships offer an important network for sharing diverse experiences in localizing the 2030 Agenda and working together to achieve the SDGs.
The format of an SDG Partnership Conference promotes partnership-based cooperation on the 2030 Agenda and enables existing partnerships to be further developed and intensified. Innovative conference content is discussed with partner municipalities from all over the world to share different perspectives and experiences on the 2030 Agenda and to develop ideas for implementing the SDGs in partnership.
