In close cooperation with a German municipality, we organize our partnership conference for German and Asian municipalities on a three-year cycle. Here, representatives from local politics and administration, civil society and other committed stakeholders have the opportunity to discuss key areas of municipal development cooperation and to network internationally. The event is aimed at German municipalities and their Asian partner municipalities.
Diverse though the various municipalities may be, the themes of cooperation remain similar. Many municipalities, for instance, are interested in funding, human resources support or injecting fresh vitality into a municipal partnership. Concrete examples presented by other municipal practitioners often make participants aware of new ways of further developing their own municipal partnerships.
The last partnership conference for German and Asian municipalities was held in cooperation with the Hildesheim - Padang city partnership in Hildesheim from September 27 to 28, 2023. The focus was on the issue of how to sustainably build urban-rural relationships in times of climate change. The next conference is planned for 2026.
