Local expert operations

he expert supports the long-standing partnership between Addis Ababa and Leipzig, which has existed since 2004. The aim of the assignment is to sustainably improve access to healthcare services for particularly vulnerable children and women in selected districts of Addis Ababa. To achieve this, Anna Pufal works closely with various municipal departments, strengthens the capacities of local health facilities, and promotes cooperation between health and education institutions.

A key focus is the testing of concrete measures on the ground. In addition, the expert supports the development of an interdisciplinary “Healthy Addis Ababa” network within the city administration and contributes to the design of pilot projects whose successful approaches can later be scaled up to other health centres across the city. Through these activities, the assignment makes an important contribution to further strengthening and expanding the development cooperation between Addis Ababa and Leipzig.

Oksana Slyvka has been supporting the operator partnership between Stadtentwässerung Dresden and the municipal water supplier Lvivvodokanal since December 2024. As a project manager, she develops needs-oriented training measures for the operator’s employees. She is also responsible for acquiring project funds to implement projects that help improve the operator’s services, such as reducing water losses. Against the backdrop of the war, managing blackout scenarios has also become an important aspect of her work. Oksana Slyvka is an engineer and began her career in a municipal company. Before the war, she worked in an engineering office specializing in (waste)water treatment. She then spent several years in Germany and can therefore mediate well between the two partners, both linguistically and culturally.
