Security arrangements
Security checks will take place at the event on 15 November 2023, due to the participation of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. Please note that on that day, it is essential that you bring your identity card with you for identification purposes. You will also not be permitted to bring any bags larger than A4 size. Please leave your luggage in your hotel.
Please also note that there will be no entry to the Kongresshalle after 9.15 am on 15 November. Please allow sufficient time for your journey to the Kongresshalle and the security checks at the venue.

Arriving by train or on foot:
The best way to reach the Kongresshalle from the main railway station is via tram line 4 or 12. Get off the tram at Zoo stop, and you will find the Kongresshalle directly beside the stop. The Kongresshalle can also be reached on foot from any of the hotels in under 20 minutes.
Arriving by car:
Directly in front of the Kongresshalle is a car park named Parkhaus Zoo Leipzig, where cars can be parked at any time. Please enter ‘Parthenstraße 8, Leipzig’ into your navigation system. Please note: Leipzig has an environmental zone which may only be entered by cars, buses or commercial vehicles with a green sticker. If you are arriving by car, please note that parking costs can only be reimbursed up to a maximum of €15 per day. Further information about parking at the Kongresshalle is available here:

Directions from the hotels:
– If you are staying at the Seaside Park Hotel Leipzig, the Hotel Ibis Leipzig City or the Intercity Hotel Leipzig, we recommend taking tram 4 or 12 from the main railway station to the Kongresshalle. Please get off the tram at Zoo stop.
– If you are staying at the Motel One Leipzig-Nikolaikirche, Motel One Leipzig-Augustusplatz or Motel One Leipzig-Post hotels, we recommend taking tram 4 or 12 from the Augustusplatz-Leipzig stop to the Kongresshalle. Please get off the tram at Zoo stop.
We have contact persons available in all hotels who can accompany groups to the event venue or to the tram stops.

Participants will be accommodated in various hotels, all of which are centrally located in Leipzig. We have booked you a hotel room free of charge in accordance with the information you provided in your event registration. Breakfast is included. Charges for use of the mini bar or hotel phone are your own responsibility. Please also note that we can only reimburse car parking charges up to €15 per day, and original receipts will be required.

The Kunstkraftwerk is located a little way outside the city centre. It can be reached via train line 15 from Leipzig main station. The journey time is approximately 17 minutes. Please get off at Lindenau, Bushof station. The Kunstkraftwerk is then just a few minutes’ walk away.
Contact persons will be available to accompany groups to the Kunstkraftwerk and also for the return journey to Leipzig city centre.

The Ratskeller is also in the city centre, and within walking distance from all the hotels. Alternatively, you could take the tram. Depending on which hotel you are staying at, we recommend catching tram 9 at the Goerdelerring stop and travelling to the Neues Rathaus stop. The Ratskeller Leipzig is then just a few minutes’ walk away. Alternatively, take tram 3,4,5 or 6 from Hauptbahnhof (the main station) or the Leipzig Markt stop, and travel to the Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz stop. The Ratskeller is then just a few minutes’ walk away.
Use of the public local transport network in Leipzig
On your arrival at the hotel, you will receive a name badge for the conference, with a ticket for the Leipzig local transport (Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe) printed on it. This ticket will allow you to travel free of charge within the city of Leipzig from 13 to 16 November 2023. There is no need to buy tickets yourself for these four days. Please retain your name badge for the entire duration of the conference. The hotels are all within walking distance of the main railway station, so you will not need to purchase a ticket for this part of your journey.
Catering
Catering during the event is free of charge. You will be served breakfast at your hotel, lunch will be provided at the event venue on both days, as well as ample coffee breaks. Catering will also be provided during the evening events.

- We will reimburse 2nd class train journeys (including seat reservations) with Deutsche Bahn, as well as journeys on local public transport (bus, tram or metro). All original receipts must also be submitted. Please note that you will be provided with a ÖPNV-Ticket for Leipzig’s public transport network, covering the period of 13 to 16 November 2023, so you will not need to buy tickets yourself. You will be given your ticket on arrival at your hotel.
- Use of a car will be reimbursed at a rate of €0.20 per km, up to a maximum distance of 650km (max. €130). Please provide evidence of the most direct route. This will be checked using an online route planner before payment. Only whole kilometres will be reimbursed. Car parking charges will be reimbursed up to a maximum of €15 per day. Original receipts will also be required for this.
- Taxi costs will only be accepted under exceptional circumstances and for justifiable reasons (physical disability, if public transport is unavailable for a prolonged period of time, or for journeys before 6.00am or after 10.00pm).
